You talk about this experience that you had... Well, this thing you did back in high school.
You talk about it in the book, but you also talk about it in your really good TED Talk called The Bel-Air Effect.
The Bel-Air... The Fresh Prince Syndrome.
Yes, Fresh Prince Syndrome.
Thank you.
And...
It has to do with how when you were in high school, you would show up to class late on purpose all the time.
And you had these like classes with your teachers.
And this is a performance that, as I understood it, is because like you felt a certain level of comfort with those interactions that would come out of showing up late regularly.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
But then when you got to university, it didn't have the same effect anymore.
Why not?
What happened in university?
It's kind of ironic that in the university setting, it was the fact that nobody paid attention to you that you were able to express yourself more authentically, isn't it?
And I suppose in that situation, it was because the university professors, they don't have the incentive or the need to control or discipline the students like they have in high school.
The essay on hip-hop is great.
You tell the story of the day you went to a record shop with your mom in a mall in Scarborough and found the album Doggy Style by Snoop Dogg.
And you go into detail of what the album cover looked like to you at the time and the sound of the music, the style, the charisma.
I don't even have a question.
Just no notes.
