Another piece of advice that I've seen, and this is a really common one, is just to avoid filler intensifier words like very and really, quite, basically, quite, just, literally, that sort of thing.
You can just say, I'm tired.
Very, in that case, is just a filler word.
And if you say, I'm tired, it's more to the point.
You don't want to hear those words that often.
