That's interesting, because you have to make that decision as an audiobook producer.

My recommendation would be to just have the narrator just breathe heavily to show that their presence is still there.

By the way, for people who are curious, the reason there are blank pages in the print book is to represent the passage of time, which is a pretty important theme in the book.
So really interesting decision on how to translate that to an audiobook version.
