I don't really get it.
We talked about butcher's slang, which they still use, don't they?
Yeah, and they say words backwards.
And paramedics, I suppose it's useful if you're trying not to say, this person's, your arm's come off.
They need to say to their colleague, this patient's arm has come off, but without alarming the patient.
But I would have thought hot dog was... Because sausage dog.
Because you get a sausage dog and you're eating a sausage.
I have a question, Susie.
Is there a word for...
Is there a word for things that you think are named the way they are for an ostensibly obvious reason, but actually they're named after a person who's got an amusingly apt name.
I'm working on a short book of 1,000 of these.
