And they get through Normandy and then they're on to their pot of market garden.
Yeah.
Too much fun.
it doesn't matter anyway these guys are the daddies yeah well well yes and i think and it's worth reminding people that this is the single unit in the british army of more battle honors than any in the second world war 36 and 16 won between yeah um landing on d-day and the 8th of may 1945 see this is what happens though if your personal favorite is like i like airborne outfits who are in for battle for like three days
We were talking about this yesterday, how much... And John Frost was actually only in battle for like 21 days.

Yeah.
As part of an independent armoured brigade.
Yes.
Well, they have these two approaches, and this is shared by the Canadians and shared by the Americans.
Your armoured divisions are the corps de chasse.
These are the kind of breakout divisions.
Armoured units which and again rather like the Panzer division.
They're not just stuff full of tanks They're all highly motorized all arms combinations and once the gap has been created these armored divisions then pour through it and and rapidly push on through and take more ground Making advantage of the fact that the enemy is in disarray But before you get to that you've got to have the grinding battle.
You've got to have
the sort of consolidation, the build-up, and then you've got to grind down your enemy and create that breakthrough.
And that has to be done with the infantry divisions supported by vast amounts of artillery.
And this is where the independent armoured
brigades come in because they are offering fire support for those infantry divisions.
And the reason why the Sherwood Rangers get so many battle honours is because they're always in battle.
