They said he hopped up like nothing had happened.

A lesser man wouldn't have been able to stand up for days.

So this guy said, yeah, they come and go pretty fast, usually, these parolee workers, especially shovel boys.

He said, well, the employment office routed me to a federal probation officer who was looking for a job for his guy who just got out of prison.

So, you know, we were both desperate pretty much is what he said.

And he said the probation officer told me about Simmons.

He'd been paroled and was staying with his sister in Kibler.

And he said he needed to find him a job.

He said, so I guess you needed a guy, you know, that needed somebody.

And there you go.

And the foreman said, yeah, it's a shitty little job.

No two ways about it.

The federal guy knew it, too.

And he said, I'm glad that, you know, the Simmons guy is working out for you.

I guess everybody deserves a second chance.

So, hey, if he does good work, great.
