Josh Cloak wrote about this in The Athletic.
And if you were a waiver-exempt player, so a guy on your entry level, you go up and down no problem.
But if you played 16 of your team's 20 games before the break...
You couldn't go down.
You had to take the Olympic break.
They played him 17 games, so he couldn't go down and play for the Marlies.
And then the two games after the break, they're refusing to play the kid.
That makes no sense.
Why would they do something like this?
If you want to showcase Cali Yarncroke or Dakota Joshua, teams know what those guys are.
And if you want to showcase them, don't play them.
You're probably better off not playing them at that point.
I think it's crazy what they're doing.
With the one prospect they have, they're messing around with the kid, and I don't like it.
Well, so why not play the kid then?
That's my point, right?
You're trying to win, but you're sitting the kid.
I don't know.
I think he's better than the depth options that they have.
He's definitely a much better player, much more highly touted prospect, but I know this world, this healthy scratch world when you're a young kid.
