Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

That is correct.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

That is correct, Michael.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

Thank you ever so much for having me.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

I just want to say real quick before we do anything.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

First time, long time, right?

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

I've been listening to the show since the beginning.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

Well, maybe not the beginning, beginning, but like all the way back when it was, you know, Jupiter broadcasting and stuff.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

So big fan of you, big fan of the show as well.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

Yeah, in the before times.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

Yeah, so first thing we need to say is obviously in computer science, naming things is one of the difficult things to do, right?

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

So there's loads of different things called SpecKits.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

But I'm hoping that we can talk about something very specific today that is a GitHub release.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

So it's on GitHub.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

You go to github.com slash github slash spec kit.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

And the idea is it's a kind of like a specification-driven toolkit for whichever AI agent you want to involve.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

Now, obviously, it's a GitHub project, so they probably want you to use Copilot, but I don't use Copilot, so I can't really say how good it is.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

But the idea is...

You open spec kit in a directory with your code, and you say, hey, agent, we're going to work on some stuff, but I'm going to provide you with the specification and a plan and a bunch of tasks, and then you're going to do it.

Coder Radio
640: The Modern .Net Shows' Jamie Taylor

So the idea is it's like back and forth.

Coder Radio

building up a very detailed plan of what you want to do.
