I think Cody Taylor would be a fantastic job, but I think that Artie's done it.

Artie started as captain for the All Blacks three times last year and he finished the game as captain two others.

It did kind of feel like a bit of a throwaway comment from Dave Rennie.

This was Dave Rennie's first press conference and he was simply pumping up Brodie Retallick's tyres because he's seen him.

He's his coach.

He wanted to bring up the fact that Brodie Retallick was the top try scorer in the Japanese competition at the time.

And it kind of got taken as, let's get this guy back.

The logic behind it, the case for it, has become a bit strong because like you said, Scott Barrett's out.

But let's look at the depth at lock at the moment.

So if the All Blacks were to play this week, and you'd probably have Tupo Vai and Josh Lord starting, and I think that's a pretty fantastic duo there.

Tupo Vai's got a case for being probably the best lock in the world on his day.

And Josh Lord's just, well, it's been worth the wait for this guy, hasn't it?

He's playing well.
