See, here's the thing.

So the first date almost never happened, basically.

We get there, and I realize I don't know if I can actually coincide or not.

Because the bar you picked is on the second floor, and you have to take an escalator there, and I have this phobia of escalators, basically.

I actually fell down one at the Mall of America when I was a kid.

But it was going upward, so I just kind of kept falling.

Obviously, I'm hesitating, and he sees me, and he's like, what's wrong?

And I didn't want to tell him because I didn't want him to think I was weird immediately.

I just had him hold my hand while I sat on the elevator step and kept my eyes closed and we rode up.

Yeah, the escalators are much more visible.
