Firstly, January the 17th is the 250th year anniversary of Captain Cook becoming the first European to cross south of the Antarctic Circle.

And secondly, January the 26th is Australia Day, which is the date the convicts disembarked at Sydney Cove in 1788.

After five years of schooling, Cook began work with his father, who was promoted to farm manager.
