And I think that's also an interesting thing is that the food does play a thematic role in a lot of this.
I mean, it represents various ways of defining home and represents various loves as well and ways of loving each other.
And I mean, I really want to try something called Chedan Beni.
um as a herb that goes into a lot of their foods but there were you know there were birds in there that got used over and over again like stoops s-t-e-u-p-s-e that i'm kind of curious to find out about i i mean i just started walking around the house talking with my kids you know just going um hey get in here now for now
Because now for now is like, you know, immediately.
Yeah, I mean, I felt at first there was, you know, it felt too much of a nice soap opera, too much sweetness.
But I was waiting for the drop.
And it definitely came toward the end, you know, that we knew that there was a buildup of chaos coming.
And there's kind of subtle references to violence and, you know,
Something like 500 murders a year in Trinidad.
This would be paradise if there weren't 500 murders last year in Trinidad.
So those little references dropped in give you a sense of foreboding that definitely brought me to tears in the final pages.
And I like how nothing is fully what it seems as well.
There's a little reveal and a little reveal and a little reveal.
And for example, when the sun gets ripped off in New York, so you're neverβ¦
Quite sure if he's about to be ripped off and what role the various characters who've ripped him off are actually playing.
And instead of just like, you know, he basically, this isn't too much of a spoiler alert, but he does get ripped off for $5,000.
But instead of it just being like straight down the line, that's what happened.
