You wouldn't always think of Fiji as being Indian, and yet there's a large Indian community there.
And so not only are you looking into Hindi culture and Indian food, but it's got something very unique and rare and valuable in the story, in that we're getting the specifics of
of a culture that we're not getting access to anywhere else in the world.
I mean, lots of people have Indian food, but who has Indian Trinidadian food?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I feel like food is ritual in this story, but in our own lives, really.
It just comes to the fore in a book like this.
And you have so many levels of symbolism in food making and meals and communication.
I dare say out loud and in public, I do have my 50th coming up in October.
But I'm thinking, you know, my family's gone, oh, where do you want to go for your 50th?
Now, I'm kind of curious about Trinidad.
Like, I want to go and experience some of this food and culture.
And I mean, there's very few books that you read that you go, huh, okay, now I want to go and visit that place.
