The U.S.

and Iran plan to hold new talks in Geneva Thursday, according to Iran's foreign minister.

The goal?

Averting what Iran says could be a regional war if the U.S.

attacks.

NPR's Jaina Raff has more.

The Secret Service says an armed man was shot and killed at Mar-a-Lago in Florida early this morning after he breached a security perimeter at President Trump's resort.

Trump wasn't there at the time.

The man died at the scene and no agents or officers were injured.

The shooting is under investigation and there's no word on a motive.

A major winter storm is hitting the East Coast with blizzard warnings from the Mid-Atlantic to New England, with some areas expected to get over two feet of snow.

Thousands of flights have been canceled so far.

In New York, the mayor has declared a state of emergency.

The Department of Homeland Security has reversed its decision to suspend TSA pre-check and global entry because of the partial government shutdown.

Earlier, DHS said it would suspend expedited screening programs as funding lapsed.
