Unfortunately, his offense has declined, and the Rangers were pretty clear that they were going to shed some payroll.
To what degree, we don't know.
But, you know, it makes sense that maybe the Rangers – and the other thing, too, is offensively, the Rangers have underachieved the last few years.
And so you've got to shuffle the deck, right?
Mm-hmm.
Uh, and sometimes you got to make tough decisions and you got to, uh, you know, try and execute some challenging moves to do that.
When you've got veterans who are there and, and, you know, uh, long-term or big contracts in the case of Marcus, uh, kind of both.
Right.
So, uh, but then you, you, you see the numbers, uh,
And you're like, well, how are you going to be able to move that?
What is it going to take?
Are you going to have to just try and trade the player and not get much in return?
Are you going to have to slap a prospect in that deal to convince a team to take more of the money?
Who knows?
Little do you realize that there are other teams in that same spot.
Maybe they've got a guy who is getting paid a decent amount of money who, for whatever reason, they feel like it makes sense to move.
And I guess that's what the Rangers found in the Mets with Brandon Nimmo.
Make no mistake about it.
I think it's important.
To underscore that when the Rangers signed Marcus Simeon, they did so with the idea of trying to change the culture and to win.
