We want to promote and platform voices that are coming out of the stocks who are the first and very often female-led talent, but also, in this case, someone who hasn't originated their work in this medium.

And he's spectacular.

He's a real cineast.

He's a real cultural nerd.

So the references are thick and fast.

There's Kubrick, there's Spielberg, there's Hitchcock.

There's all sorts.

There's even a bit of Jane Campion in there, weirdly.

But it is just...

It's a rich tapestry of imagination and minds coming undone, reflected through a cinematic idea of how that would happen in the culture of these people.
