So I just don't think I can speak to that.
Sorry.
Not that I know of.
And I haven't done a survey of it yet.
But I feel like if there was something really significant going on, I'd know I would have heard about it by now.
Um, I think there are interesting models to look at, but I don't, I don't have any nation that I would say, oh yeah, they're really surging ahead and doing some great experiments.
Um, I think some interesting things are happening in the U S right now.
Um, DARPA is a model that a lot of people look to and, uh, some folks in the UK want to copy.
Um, there's an interesting project going on right now.
A guy named Adam Marblestone is working with something called the Day One Project to create something he calls focused research organizations, which are a little like DARPA-type organizations and a little like startups, but focused on research and not purely military.
DARPA has to be military research ever since the 70s.
They're not allowed to do things they can't justify somehow on military grounds.
So I think, um, uh, Adam and his, uh, focused research organizations is an interesting kind of project that just launched.
Um, Patrick Collison's, uh, and Tyler Cowen's fast grants experiment, I think is an interesting experiment.
Um, there's some other things going on outside the U S and I'm trying to, I can't remember off the top of my head, which countries have experimented with this, but if you look up, um, uh, grant making via random lottery, um,
is an interesting, very highly counterintuitive sort of experiment in funding research.
And I can't remember which countries have experimented with it, but some countries outside the US.
Maybe New Zealand.
I don't remember.
But if you just look up grant, you know, grant lotteries or something, you'll probably find some stuff on it.
