most ardent adversaries in our own hemisphere, given the proximity, then I think it's worth it.
You have these deep ties between Russia and Venezuela, between Iran and Venezuela.
We mentioned, I talked about the economic ties with China, which are, of course, different than the role of Russia in Venezuela, the role of Iran in Venezuela.
And so that would give us as a homeland greater security if we're able to do it in a minimal way.
It really depends on how this all plays out.
The administration is hoping that it plays out in a way that we're able to
see a transition that we're able to expand our partnership and we're able to do so in a way that benefits our economy and doesn't have a negative impact on our broader positioning.
But that's still to be determined because there's a number of different factors that will influence how this mission results at the end.
There are the domestic factors within Venezuela.
There are the domestic political factors in the United States.
And then there's, of course, the international factors and how longstanding friends of Venezuela,
like the Chinese, like the Iranians, like the Russians.
Actually, their ambassadors were the first people that the new Delcy Rodriguez, who was sworn in as acting president, greeted after her ceremony.
So those ties continue.
And so all these different factors throw a whole set of wild cards into what the eventual results will be of this operation.
