An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I've got the YouTube thing going in the background, so I'm getting like a double you guys. So can we just go ahead? No worries. Just mute that side.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Uh, I'm Jason Watts. I'm licensed private investigator. Um, I went to high school with Brandon. Um, knew him a little bit, had a couple of classes with him. Back in high school, I was a young, dumb, punk, nerdy looking kid. And I got my share of flack for it. And there was a couple of times Brandon made sure I didn't spend the night in a locker.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And when he went missing, I decided to, you know, try to return some of the respect that he showed me and offered to help his family out in any way that I could. I wasn't a licensed private investigator at the time. I was just a private citizen. So I began, you know, just sharing his flyer. on social media, just trying to help keep the word out.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And every time I would share it, people would start to ask questions. And I got to the point where I was like, well, I want to try to answer some of these questions that are being asked. And so I began really kind of just diving into it as much as I could as a private citizen. became very good friends with Ledessa and Brandit's family.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And it just kind of took on this giant role of citizen detective, I guess is what you would call it. And just, you know, talk to people that knew him, requested records from Coke County, visited the scene, really kind of immersed myself in the case and
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
After kind of looking everything over, I decided that the most likely scenario based on the evidence that was available was that he had to be somewhere out there and was just missed or he was in an area that wasn't searched. by complete happenstance of appearing on those podcasts, I became acquainted with a man named Lou Barry. He is a private investigator, a retired police chief.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And I kind of shared everything I had with him and had him double check my logic, so to speak. And he kind of mentored me along the way. And we got to the point where like, well, look, there's not, we've, we've learned really everything that we can get as far as records and, and, you know, visiting the scene and, and, It's really a matter of searching for it. That's the next step. And so.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
At 1st, we just searched with drones because we felt it was less invasive to the landowners and then we started doing foot searches and sure enough January of 2022. we, we put a foot search on a property that hadn't been searched yet.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I should probably paraphrase a little bit. Sure. It was not foot searched.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah, I should probably. You know, Coke County flew over the area. Paula, that's how she searched it, was she flew over the area. So was the... Area flown over, yes. Was it heavily foot searched? I don't believe so. No. Got it. Just based on my conversations with the landowner, no.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, bear in mind, this is an active investigation by Texas law. Tell me what you can tell me. Yeah, yeah. Well, I just want the listening audience to understand that there are things I can't, for investigative reasons, answer. Sure. With that being said, I'm trying to think of the best way to word this.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
It was consistent with what you would expect to see for items laying out in the open elements for eight and a half years. Okay, gotcha.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Again, I'm trying to think of the best thing. I would not say that it was a certainty.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Possible. Yeah. That's the best way to word it. Yeah. That's the best way to word it.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Uh, no, the property is littered with thick cactus, uh, Parts of it changed elevation. There are all kinds of spiders making webs in the mesquite trees and stuff like that. As far as did we see any snakes, I did not see any snakes that day, no, but it was also very cold, so the snakes wouldn't be acting. I did not see any wild hogs that day, but we did come across their skeletal remains.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I'm not sure if you guys, are you guys on the Help Find Brandon Lawson Facebook page?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Okay, so we actually went back out there. to that property in March of this year to see if we could uncover any additional evidence of Brandon. That time we did encounter a pack of 12 wild hogs.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Uh, not when your cadaver dog gets into a fight with one. No.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. That was a, that was, that was pretty well.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
That's not, you know, I've actually seen this theory brought up was, was that evidence planted there? Right. And I can go ahead and, you know, answer the question. Okay. In order to plant evidence, you have to know somebody's coming to look for it, right? Right. I mean, otherwise, what's the point?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Not only do you have to know somebody's coming to look for you, you have to know where they're going to look. Okay, I have to place these there because these are where these guys are going to be if I want this found, right? Okay, well, there were four people that knew what property we were searching that day. Okay, so probably not.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah, me, Lou Barry, the landowner who was in the hospital with COVID in ICU on a ventilator, and one of the other searchers who unlocked the gate to let everybody on. That's it. Ledessa did not know. Sheriff McCutcheon didn't even know we were coming that day.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I will not confirm or deny which direction they were found, just to protect the landowner. All right. Hey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. No, you're fine.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. It depends on whether you want to open your own agency or just be a private investigator. In my case, I have an agency that carries my licensure. If you want to open your own investigation agency, you have to take a manager's test. And I think you're, Don't quote me on this, but I think you may have to have some sort of degree in business management. Again, don't quote me on that.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Uh, but I mean, in my case, I'm, I'm just another agency carries my license.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Right. And I mean, that's kind of in a way that's kind of understandable because I mean, let's face it, you can't solve a case without law enforcement. I mean, yeah. Okay. Look at me. I went out there and I found that we found this stuff, but I still had to call them. I mean, they, they have to come in and test everything. And you know, if, if,
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
there has ever come to light beyond a reasonable doubt that there's a criminal element to this. They have to be the one to slap cuffs on somebody. I don't have that authority. And I don't have the authority to bring charges forth. Really, in all honesty, when you boil it down, private investigators really can just gather information. That's really what they do. Yeah.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
As far as what I think he's saying?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. That's kind of an unknown. And for the longest time, LaDessa and the family didn't know. So here's the truth. Coke County did respond to that call. They sent a deputy north. It is in their dispatch logs. It's even in the sheriff's wife's articles. Say what you want about those. And I understand that because I don't necessarily agree with everything that was written either.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
But they did respond to that call. It just wasn't put out publicly, probably like it should have been. But it is in their dispatch logs, which I do have. They did respond to that call. I even have the name of the deputy that responded.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
No, no, no. So the deputy that went north was dispatched because of Brandon's call. The problem was they didn't have enough of a geographic location. All he said was, I'm out here going towards Abilene. That's all the dispatcher could make out. So she interpreted that as he had already gone through Braunt. So that's why the deputy was sent north of Braunt.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
The trucker call is what Deputy Neal responded. Gotcha. He knew somebody had called 911, and that's why the other deputy was out. But he did not have the full details as to who called, why they called. All he knew is, okay, another officer got sent north for that. This call's coming in about this truck on the south side of town. I'm going to go check that out.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And by the way, just for you guys and the listening audience, I'm not here to play devil's advocate for Cope County. I'm just giving you guys the truth. I mean, that's all I can do. I mean... I know there's been a lot of heat and stuff on Cope County, and I understand why. But it is my duty, I feel, as somebody who worked on the case, to give the truth to the best of my knowledge.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Now, if I get something wrong, I'm more than happy to say, hey, I had that wrong. My bad. But...
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, I mean, and like I said, there's things even I don't agree with and how it was handled.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
To answer that question would potentially reveal too much. Okay. But I can say I kind of understand where the confusion came from.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Not that I've been able to find, no.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I think he was probably trying to say state trooper and misspoke. He was known to kind of, and even a lot of people when they get excited and they'll do that.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I believe he thought he was seeing a state trooper.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Just seems like a... Well, I mean, regardless, I mean, I know a lot of people think that that explains that, and hey, maybe so. Take that, you know, how you will. I mean, if that's what was going on with him, That's, I mean, to me, it never really affected much. I was still going to put as much effort into finding the guy as it took.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And, you know, I don't know that I would even consider him an addict. I mean... I mean, look at the way his family, I mean, Kyle himself described it. He would do it like every six months or something. I mean, that's really no different than you and going out every six months on a date with your wife and drinking a beer. Are you an alcoholic? No.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
well he was he did stay in fort worth with a couple of his buddies the night before i mean kyle even said that in his interview that's how he got a hold of him was he called some people back in fort worth looking for brandon and he found him through you know one of their buddies yeah so yeah he was he was here in fort worth hanging out with some of his boys and then you know he came back home and there was the disagreement and
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
He left to come back to Fort Worth. He wanted to go see his dad.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, I mean. His father actually tried to tie him into staying home because it was like 11.54 at night. He didn't want to turn out driving because it takes a good three and a half hours-ish to get from San Angelo to where his parents lived in Crowley. So, yeah, I mean, I wouldn't want my son making that trip at night either.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
But, I mean, you know, I can also understand as being a 26-year-old man, when you're going through some crap and, you know, you're stressed, Sometimes you don't want to talk to your dad.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Sometimes you don't go hang out with your dad. You know, my dad puts things in perspective for me, even at the age of 39. So, yeah, I mean, I can see why. A lot of people wondered, why didn't he just go to his brothers if his brothers live five minutes down the road? He didn't want to see his brother. He wanted to see his dad.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
You know, dad's a little prude. I'm going to go talk to dad.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I think he was distracted. Just wasn't thinking about it. I mean, whether he was in a clear frame of mind or not, I think he was stressed. He probably wasn't paying attention. I had a model truck very similar to that. I think Brandon's was a 2000. I had a 2002. They do have a gas light that comes on, but it's not like the newer models that'll tell you you have so many miles to eat.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
No, there's just a little light that'll be on and say, hey, low fuel. So I think he was probably stressed and not paying attention. And then that light came on and he went, oh, crap, I'm already on the north side of town. Well, I know Bront's coming up. Maybe I can make it. And unfortunately, he didn't. Unfortunately not. So...
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like I said, it depends on where you are. I mean, the area right there next to where the truck was found is pretty flat. But if you go 20 yards to the southeast, you got a hill that goes up and then drops down.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. So there are parts of it that are flat. Yeah. And then there's parts of it that are not flat at all.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I can run that distance in 10 minutes.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I'm not convinced he ran to that bridge or was anywhere near it when he made that call. Okay. As a matter of fact... Is it possible he was? Maybe. But I don't think that sound is the sound. This is just my opinion. Again, it's just my opinion. It's not the opinion of the family or investigators or anybody else.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I think that sound that you're hearing at the end of that call that some people think is gunshots, some people think it's the sound of a car going over a bridge. I don't think it's either one. I think it's the sound of a heavy vehicle, probably an 18-wheeler, flying by. And that you're hearing, have you ever been talking to somebody when they're outside in the wind? You get a very similar sound.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I've noticed when I'm standing on the side of 277 and an 18-wheeler blows by me, there's a huge rush of air. I had it recorded on one of my old phones. I'm not able to bring it up for you. But if you compare that sound wave to the sound wave at the end of the call, they're very similar.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
The only person that knows the answer to that is Brandon. Right. I don't know. I mean, I can't tell you. I mean, I think when, When Kyle and Deputy Neal were there, Brandon was probably very within eyesight. And then for whatever, however, or whatever reason, he traveled to where we found the stuff was found.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
To where you guys found the clips that I wouldn't say that that's necessarily impossible. But I'm not sure how likely. That's a long way. That's a heck of a distance to drag. Not only shoes and shorts, but. You know, the rest of, you know. Yeah, because you have these three major items that are all found within close proximity.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Plus, not to mention, if that event happened near the road and then it was moved by an animal, there would probably be some scatter closer to the road that was found and there was nothing like that.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, the shoes, the shorts, and then ultimately the part of the skull that was found.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
At least not publicly. Not that it's been made public.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
It's continued to be work done. I'm... Again, I'm trying to think of the best way to word this without getting into trouble. Okay, let me put it to you like this.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I don't think the results are going to shock anybody. I'll say that way. All right. Now, what the actual results are, I'm not going to – because it's not my place. Right. Right. That's just me being honest. I mean, it should be Ledessa or Brandon's family that puts those final results out, not me.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah, I've been trying to kind of do that myself, but it's hard because there's a little bit of a lag.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I think we said that like 30 minutes or something. Yeah, we can scroll through. Was there anything else I could help you guys clear up? You guys clear up.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I do, but I'm keeping those to myself. All right. And there's a reason for that. People are going to make up their mind anyway.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Now, I'm happy to give some info, but I keep my opinions to myself. I mean, LaDessa knows what they are, but I'm just going to let the public make their own mind up because they're going to do that anyway. It doesn't matter what I tell them. I mean, if you believe this to be a case of foul play, I am not going to argue with you. I mean... It doesn't really matter what I tell you.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
You've probably made your mind up anyway. Now, there are some people that will look at evidence and go, oh, crap, he's right. That probably does not mean that. It means this. But I let the public make up their own mind.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And I understand why he's suspicious of him. Yeah.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I know who Burt's talking about. I actually... respect that guy a lot because he he did a lot of work but uh there's a there's a couple of reasons you can kind of go probably not yeah and for one likely well for one the warrant was out of johnson county yeah How are you going to be an informant for Tom Green County and get your warrant cleared in Johnson County? It doesn't benefit them.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
How are you going to be committed to crime? And how does that make restitution for them? Second of all, the warrant was still active. So if that was the deal, Brandon got screwed. You know what I mean? If the deal is, hey, you become this informant and your warrant goes away, well, somebody screwed up. So you can kind of No, that probably didn't happen.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Another thing is, LaDessa has already stated how Brandon was trying to take care of that warrant. They were saving up to do it through a lawyer. Yeah, which makes sense. And again, Tom, if you're here, I love you. I respect what you did. But to me, in my opinion, no, that's not very likely.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah, I think... No, like I said, I know there's a lot of... speculation and a lot of rumor um most uh don't even get me started on that but i mean like there was and no offense to anybody in the chat room i don't you know i don't know anybody in there um but people online will take things and spin things and try to juicy up the story and just
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And I'll use this example because even Ledessa herself has talked about it. The theory that there was something going on between Kyle and Ledessa. Go ahead and get your censored button ready. That's complete and utter bullshit. First of all, there's no evidence to suggest that at all. Two... that's almost ridiculous on its face. I mean, that's what happens on TV.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And if you talk to all the people that were close to Kyle, close to LaDessa, and close to that family, they will all tell you, that is ridiculous on its face.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
some people don't like the way a story or a case looks as it is so they try to twist things and yeah let's see let's see how i can juicy this up and then i'll go post it and then i'm relevant i agree i've heard a lot of that uh same kind of speculation while i was doing my videos and stuff like that on it i i even talked to you about it about um
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Oh, I can tell you exactly why that happened. Sure. They wanted to do it right. I mean, you got to remember, they didn't know we were coming. No one knew we were going out there. No member of law enforcement knew we were going out there that day. We literally dropped it in their lap. And not to mention, it was on a Sunday, and the next day was a – I can't remember.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
It was Martin Luther King holiday. It was one of the holidays in – I think it was Martin Luther King Day. So, I mean, the next day was a holiday. And so they couldn't – I mean, like I said, they were not prepared for this at all. And so what they really wanted to do was get enough –
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
people out there you know good forensic people they wanted to come in with cadaver dogs they really wanted to come in there with a big heavy presence because they knew after this you know this was already eight and a half years they already knew they had their work cut out for them as far as finding additional evidence so they really wanted to get in there with a good good team of people um they were initially set to come back i think it was like a week later
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And do that search, but what happened was. They had a Texas Ranger. I don't know if he got killed, but I know he got shot and so they devoted a lot of resources that they were going to put into the search to to investigating that because it's an officer involved incident. So that's what took them a little bit longer to get out there. But, yeah, no, that's why that happened.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I mean, yes and no. I mean, for example, if you've got to go out and search for remains or you have to investigate this murder that just happened, I mean, obviously, murder is going to come first. Right. Yeah. I'm not saying there was a murder. I'm just giving an example.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I mean, it's not, you know, when you've, Bert, I know you've been to the area, but when you first go out to be too broad, if you're not used to that, it can come as a bit of a culture shock to you. The first time I ever drove through the town, I went, does everybody work? In some ways, it's a very different way of living. The people that live down there, That's their life, you know.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
But to someone who lives in, like, the big city, that would come as a what the heck kind of thing, you know. Right.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
No, I can probably hang around for another 25 minutes or so. No problem. Anything about this case specifically?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I mean, I would have to sit and think on it for a minute. I would obviously need more information. Where the body was found, is it a rural area?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Hmm, what time of day was the body found?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Died with sticks. between his legs and under his armpits.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
How long between when the subject disappeared to when the body was found?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, a cold can preserve things, but you said the temperature was not... It got up into the 40s.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I mean, it depends on the PI. Some PIs don't like touching murder cases because they feel like it should be a law enforcement issue. Now, some will touch murder cases. It just depends on the case.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Remember one thing about the FBI. They have to be invited into the case.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Uh, I haven't heard a lot of them. I mean, I went to crime con back in June and I remember there was a lot of talk of that case because it was so close to Nashville where crime con was. So, yeah, I mean, I remember it. I know he was. You would have to refresh me. I mean, it's hard to memorize every case you come across.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I promised Bert an hour or so, so an hour and 15 minutes sounds good.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I mean, I'll hang around for a few more. Yeah. I mean, cause I know how this goes. I'll leave. And then a million questions. Cause I'm the same way. I'll hang up with somebody and go, Oh crap. I should ask that. Uh,
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I appreciate you, buddy. Are there any other – I mean – I don't know.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Like, did you see anything that you were – No, I mean, some people asked what CrimeCon was. It's a true crime convention. It's actually a pretty cool thing to go to if you're able to go. Um, let's see. I'm trying to scroll through the chats on my phone.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Oh yeah. You bet. You bet. No problem.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I'm happy to do what I, what I can. I mean, I don't, um,
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, you know, I kind of came from, in some ways, a similar place to a lot of people in the chats. I was just a guy that was curious about a case, and I've learned things about how to look at cases, and I'm more than happy to share some of those techniques with not only them, but you guys. Mm-hmm.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I know one thing that has come up not only in Brandon's case, but even in the case I'm working now, Jason Landry, is one thing that's often tossed around with cases is some sort of cover-up.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. I want to share something with you guys about cover-ups. Sure. Statistically speaking, most of the time they fail.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yes, because human beings are social creatures. They can't... Even if you're introverted, you still have people you talk to. I mean, look at one of the most famous attempts to cover up in the world, the Watergate scandal. That failed in three weeks. Because people... The key to a cover-up is remember this golden rule when it comes to a cover-up.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
The more people you have in on the cover-up, A, the less likely the cover-up is to be true, or B, less likely the cover-up is going to stay a cover-up indefinitely because people can't help it. They talk. I mean, put yourself in a room full of five people and tell them a shocking secret. I guarantee you one of them goes home and after a night of passion with his wife, tells him what she did.

Or they go to a bar and get drunk and spill the beans. And that's why a lot of cases end up getting solved because people can't shut up. And so that's one thing to remember about a cover-up. The technical term is the more inclusion, the less duration. Yeah.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Sure. Look at, look at, look at what you know.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Brandon calls nine one one at 1250. He says, there's a state trooper here. I'm being chased. Six minutes later, a truck driver calls in and says you need to send the police because there's a truck on the side of the road down there. Think about that for a minute. Let me put this as a hypothetical to you. You're driving. You see a car stuck on the side of the road.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
If there's police there, why do you go into town and call the police? You don't. Which I guess would... And again, take that how you want.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, so that was one... In 11 years, I have never seen anybody think of that. And it boggled my mind a little bit.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
But you also have to know this. The truck driver did not call until he got into Brunt.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
He passed two minutes earlier than his call. So he called at 12.56.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
It takes three minutes and some change to get from where the truck was found to where B-Stripes gas station is.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. Well, what happened was he went into the gas station because he was getting fuel for the rig. And he was telling the store clerk, hey, almost, you know, there's a truck back there. It's kind of half in the road. And, you know, it's a small town. They all look out for each other. So the clerk actually told him, you should probably call the sheriff's office. Let him know it's out there.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And then he felt probably, probably not that. No. No. I mean, I can go ahead and say this because I've already said it on another podcast. I have that recording.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yes. And the trucker is not consistent with somebody who just... Oh, I don't mean the truck was actually chasing him. Yeah. Now, hey, could that... No, because the call would have had to have been initiated probably slightly before the trucker actually passed by the scene. Right.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
That's exactly what it probably was, was that same 18-wheeler that flew by was the same guy.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Again, he... Whether real or imaginative, he probably believed he saw one at some point.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
i i can't say that's not impossible i can say there's really no evidence to support it um it could be i mean could he have seen a dark colored car that he thought maybe was his officer sure yeah i mean i'm trying to think of what police cruiser was coming in 13 i don't know if they had moved to the explorers yet
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147

The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah, I hadn't thought about that. That is true. That is true. I mean, lack of sleep can... If you go to... I mean, the human brain has to have rest, and if it doesn't get it, it can start doing some weird stuff.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I'm trying to look at myself. I like to interact with the live chat a little bit because, I mean, that's why people are here. They have questions. They want to ask questions, you know? Right. Plus, I mean, without your audience, you wouldn't be here.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. I always try to – I always kind of try to – like if I see a video come out, I try to watch it. And, you know, if the person did a good job, I try to, you know – Hey, good job. You know, we're all here to lift each other up. So now there's been a couple of my immediately start slamming my head into my desk. I hope ours wasn't one.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
No, no. I didn't get a chance to watch all of your previous one, but I did get a chance to kind of catch that. Yeah. bits and pieces. Uh, so I got about five more minutes and then, uh, I'm going to be ready to go see what my wife and kiddo are doing. All right.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
And you know, I, uh, I'm always happy to help out Bert. He's a good guy. I like him.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I mean, I'm working on the Jason Landry case now. I actually just got home yesterday from doing a search for him. I don't know if you guys are familiar with that case. Not yet. It's a bizarre one too, man. finding Jason Landry on Facebook is a, is a good, you know, that's, that's a website where you can learn a lot.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
You know, we, we're always looking for volunteers to help out with the search efforts. So if anybody is, you know, in the Austin area of Texas in your, in your chat and thinks they would like to perhaps volunteer for the search effort, we're always looking for volunteers. So you can put in that Amazon wishlist that we're,
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
put out to help, you know, keep the supplies coming like water and stuff like that for the searches.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Well, I think some of them probably are young men getting intoxicated and falling in. I'm not up to speed on all of them. You know, you have to look at every single case and the circumstances around it. Could there be somebody doing that? I'm sure at least one of them is. How many have they had? I don't even know now. It was 18.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
It wouldn't shock me if one of them at least was foul play. Yeah. Right. Yeah.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah, somebody did something to that guy. I'm sorry. That ain't no suicide, brother.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Who breaks into a jewelry store and doesn't steal any jewels? Somebody not looking for jewels. Exactly. I do see one question in the chat. Does the family feel good about how the case is going? There have been some additional frustrations, obviously. I mean, with the DNA taking a while, we all thought we were going to get that DNA back within a year. I'm very surprised at how long it's taken.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I am, and then I'm not because of the degradation of the remains and what it takes to actually test them. But I didn't think it would take quite this long. Does the family feel good? Yes and no. I know the ranger that is currently in charge of the case. I met the man the night we found the clothing, and I do have a good amount of respect for him. Good. And does too, I think.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
So he unfortunately has retired, and I think the case is now with another ranger. But I think we are getting close to it being wrapped up. Now, how long, I don't know.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Have you heard of Maura Murray's case?
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Jason Landry's is almost the exact same.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
I have. I've always wanted to come up there and check that out. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. I'm telling you, man.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
All right. Well, I hate to cut you guys off. Oh, no, no. You're good. No way.
The Lore Lads
An Interview With Jason Watts | Podcast Episode 147
Yeah. Yeah, hey. I appreciate you, man. If there's anything else I can help you guys or Bert, hey, man, I'm just a message away, brother. I got you right here, dude. I appreciate you. All right, you guys have a good night. You too.
