That's really a crime movie, but it starts...
what will become a horror franchise five years later with The Silence of the Lambs, which is one of the only horror movies to ever win Best Picture.
The thing that connects all of these, of course, is Hannibal Lecter, played by Brian Cox in Manhunter, and then Anthony Hopkins for the rest of the movies.
