76ers star Joel Embiid underwent emergency surgery in Houston on Thursday.

after being diagnosed with appendicitis a few hours before his team fell to the Rockets.

Wild, wild stuff here.

Unclear right now when, if, I guess, Embiid will be able to return to the court.

Jeff Stotts of InStreetClose tweeting yesterday,

These are relatively uncommon surgeries in the NBA, but Grant Hill, OG Ananobi have undergone the procedure and the average time loss for an in-season surgery like this is about three weeks.

I think 23 days is what Jeff Stotts said.

So not great, Bob, for timing wise and just the unfortunate luck of Joel Embiid here.

Just another weird injury.

I wouldn't think so.

Yeah, but they are very likely going to have to come through the play-in.

Like they are not going to have one of these playoff seeds.

And then you're like, well, there's a whole week off for those teams that are in the top six in each conference.

But it's looking like they're going to have to come through that.

So they're going to have to win a game or two, no matter where they fall.

Without Joel Embiid, we think.

Again, no real update on that.

I wouldn't even have them winning any of these play-in games without them.
