That's a slight increase from when the same question was asked last year.

Part of that response is people's perceptions as the climate heats up and winters generally are warmer.

Extremely cold winters happen less frequently.

This perception issue affects younger people even more because they may not have experienced extreme cold in the past.

The poll found that about 70% of Americans said their electricity or gas bills were higher than usual this winter, 40% had work or school canceled, and 30% delayed or canceled travel.

The Trump administration repealed the basis for federal action to rein in the greenhouse gases heating the climate.

Under the Clean Air Act, the Environmental Protection Agency previously found that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare.

Now the Trump EPA reversed that endangerment finding, calling it the largest deregulatory action in U.S.

history.

Among the groups filing the lawsuit are the American Lung Association, Earth, Justice, and Public Citizen.

The case likely will take years to litigate and could bring the issue of regulating climate pollution before a Supreme Court that is more conservative than the one that issued the original decision in 2007.
