Most Broadway shows have out-of-town tryouts to polish their material, but Schmigadoon's author Cinco Paul says his show began on a streaming TV service.
Schmigadoon aired in 2021 as a six-part series about a bickering couple who find themselves stuck in a town where everyone sings old-fashioned songs.
Paul adapted his material for the stage, and the show actually did have an out-of-town tryout at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
