And I think having worked in news as well, sports news, and been in and around the industry for a long time, you know, I realized how important that was.
And so, you know, doing your homework and doing your research on that.
A lot, a lot of the clubs are providing us with, with pronunciations, but certainly there are times where you don't have that information.
And, you know, there are places that I go now and, um,
every every week that i prep i've got the certain websites i go to and check things out so um but nothing beats just picking up the phone if you can and getting on the on the blower to the media manager and saying hey how does he want his or how does she want her name pronounced because ultimately um that's that's the key yeah that's interesting hey so when they when the club give you that info they're calling you they're not writing it down or spacing it sounding it out it's it's
Yeah, sometimes we get a file through on how it's said, but if I'm not sure, like you want to get it bang on, so it's, hey, you know, on the blower, would you mind just asking them how they want their name pronounced?
You know, we're in an age now where, you know, new players are popping up all the time and it's just so important that we get our pronunciation correct with Pasifika names, MΔori names.
You know, our teams, the game is so important and it's important that we get that right for them as well.
I think as you do more, your body of work starts building and you've called one team two or three times that season, so you'll have your prep from the previous games, but
I guess for a test match, for example, if a team's coming over that you haven't called for a while or these players have been playing in Europe, you're going to have to do a lot more homework on them.
So I think the way I do it at least is, you know, we're really lucky to have good stats guys that provide stats packs to us each week.
But for me, it's laying out my team in formation.
