It has nothing to do with if you think he can be a playoff team next year.
You have to draft, and you've got to develop.
And the way the league is working right now, free agency isn't what it once was.
It maybe never was anything.
So you've got to get ahead of the game via drafting.
And the reality is, whoever they hire is the president.
or the GM, those guys will be at the forefront, and they're going to lay the framework for the whole philosophy and the mission statement of the organization.
But the pro scouting and the amateur scouting should be the best in the league.
And it just simply hasn't been for about a handful of years.
They've got to find diamonds in the rough.
They've got to make draft picks.
And, yes, we can be hyper-focused on winning a draft lottery and all that.
That's important.
Of course it is.
Second-rounders count, too.
Third-rounders, fourth-rounders, fifth-rounders.
