This was never about asking Vegas to reject their request for permission to speak to Bruce Cassidy, nor was it going after Craig Berube or Dean Everson or anybody else.

It was finding somebody to get in on the ground floor and work with this team and hopefully start to build together.

He talked about siloing this, that Manny was the guy that they wanted as the head coach, and now the Vancouver Canucks will step back, and if their scouting department determines that Caleb is the right fit for them here and now, and we know they need help down the middle...

that they won't shy away from that, but certainly it was discussed before Manny put pen to paper here, so it's on their mind.

There was nothing that Ryan said today that indicated to me that it's a non-starter, that they are going on the record as saying they're not going to draft Caleb.

We'll have to wait and see.

Obviously, the dominoes have to fall before they get to the podium with that third selection, so there's a lot of volatility as we sit here four weeks out from the draft, and

Caleb may be there for them.

So yeah, we'll see where it goes, but Ryan certainly didn't rule it out on his Zoom availability today.

Yeah, I mean, there's a lot to unpack there.

Look, Daniel and Henrik are franchise icons, but they don't have much experience when it comes to running hockey clubs.

We know the way they ascended to among the best in the game and skated right through the front door of Hockey Hall of Fame.

So they're smart guys.

They process the game.

They developed their games as they went along.
