He said there was no plan.
It's not true.
It's simply not true.
Miss Fulch then asked him, why do you think that she has told these very serious lies, as he alleges?
And he said, I wish I knew the answer to that.
He later said that when Witness B. disclosed these allegations to church figures while she was staying in that Christian rehab centre in Armoy in 1997, he said that it was at a time when I was going forward to be a Member of Parliament.
He said his political career might have been in her mind at that time.
Ms.
Welch pointed to an earlier evidence when the witness told a church figure that she didn't want to ruin Mr. Donaldson's political career.
That was a statement that she'd made to a pastor, Stephen Matthews.
And she said to him, this is not someone who is setting out to destroy you.
I suggest the reason she said that, she said it in 1997 and then again in her ABE, which as we know is her achieving best evidence, is because it is true.
Everything she said happened and Mr Donaldson responded again saying it's not true.
Spott put it to Mr. Donaldson that he knew Witness B wasn't going to tell anyone because you'd already been abusing her, she said, and he responded to say that was not the case.
At that point, we obviously come to the cutting off point of the day and the evidence stopped.
That is not the end of the prosecution's questioning of Mr. Donaldson.
Jeffrey Donaldson will be back in court tomorrow.
He will be back in the witness stand and he will be back for the rest of the cross-examination by the prosecution.
