I think, because it was so young that I am not sure, but I think it was because my dad
was the high school music teacher.
He conducted the pit orchestras for the high school musicals.
It was always a very big deal that we would go and watch the high school musical.
I remember we'd wear our best little patent leather shoes, my sister and I, and we'd wear our nicest little dress and we'd get to put little candies in our purses.
Come on, Midwest.
And we would go and we would watch the high school musical.
And I just thought it was the most spectacular thing in the whole world.
And I think that's kind of where it got in me.
I think that's where it started.
Because my mom said I came home from kindergarten and said, well, I'm an actor.
Why am I not in a play?
And my mom was like, uh...
And then to her credit, they figured out how to make it so I could audition for the second graders play.
And I got a role.
It was like the children's version of the Hobbit.
