So I chose the Russian one.
And I thought it was interesting.
So I then wrote off to the Soviet embassy to ask for some books.
They sent volumes of books.
I wish I'd never asked, actually.
Well, you know, all these books, history of Russia.
And so I read an awful lot of got into Russian novels and history and so on.
And also read Lenin, State and Revolution and Communist Manifesto and things like this.
And then the other exam I did was geography, but I got a great E in both, which was... Which is an achievement, you know.
My mother was very sweet about it.
She said, well, they probably couldn't read your writing.
Oh, was this... It was a big thing.
Then they allowed you to go as a school leaver, which I don't really think should have been allowed, because I'm not sure what a British school leaver can really offer to the rest of the world at the age of 18.
