And if I met her, it would make it too real.
It had a code name, so it didn't have an actual name.
There's just this series of random letters in place of a name.
It was just frustrating because I couldn't see anything.
There was no profile picture, there was no details.
And Jess is sitting there, staring at it, when her phone rings.
And she said, oh, you've put your DNA on the DNA Ancestry site and we just wondered what your story was.
And I went, oh, God.
I was like, my story?
I said, what is this about?
She said, it's because you've matched with one of our clients, she called her.
You say you're adopted.
So tell me a bit about that.
And I said, well, I was abandoned as a baby.
And then there was this instant gasp at the end of the phone of, what?
And I remember hanging up.
And although it was like a 20-minute conversation, it was just, I couldn't get my head around it.
My head just exploded.
