Like, you might have Brandon Valenzuela pulling ahead of Tyler Hahnemann in terms of who the backup catcher is when Alejandro Kirk comes back.
Yeah, because if Tyler Hahnemann... Say he splits time with Valenzuela until Kirk comes back moving forward.
And, like, how much of an impression can you really...
put forth for your manager coming off of something like this, when you have to imagine that still, no matter what Heineman does offensively, Valenzuela is still going to be looked at as the guy who has more potential and more of a bat that can make a difference in your lineup.
So still, I think you have to take who the pitchers prefer into account.
But if something happened, if there was some sort of disagreement or some sort of issue with Tyler Heineman and John Schneider,
it might materially affect the decision-making on who the backup catcher ultimately is when Kirky comes back.
So that escalated more than I thought it would.
I mean, ultimately, ultimately it's John Schneider who decided to leave Tyler Heineman in that spot.
He gave him the opportunity, whether it's a vote of confidence and like, Hey, let's see what you can do at a big spot type of situation.
I think people still look at it and say, well, this whole thing could have been avoided if you let Brandon Valenzuela bat in that spot.
big moment that you you didn't and you let Heinemann in and and now you kind of dealing with the wake of that decision of leaving him in there which is is really interesting and something I didn't see coming when when even the game ended I thought we're just going to get a pretty ho-hum explanation and that's not what we ended up getting so this is something we'll have to keep tabs on because um it didn't sound very good coming from Heinemann nor John Schneider
No.
I don't want to read too much into one incident, but also it feels like the things are starting to stack in Valenzuela's favor when he's trying to look at a situation like that.
But I agree with you, man.
Like, I don't think Schneider looks at this and they're the grown men.
Even if something did happen, they're grown men, men that can get past to this.
Like, this is what people do.
They're both mature adults.
But it's just a matter of who's going to give you the greatest output between those two guys moving forward.
