His style keeps everything clean and ready for big moves.
Take the Miko Rantanen deal, patiently waiting for the right moment to snag a superstar before the deadline, fitting him under the cap with that.
Under Nill, Dallas racked up the second-most playoff wins league-wide with 63 since 2013, made nine postseason runs, and even reached the Stanley Cup final in 2020.
He came over from Detroit's front office before that.
There, he helped build four Stanley Cup winners as a scout, minor league GM, and assistant.
Since taking over Dallas in 2013, the Stars missed playoffs only four times, hit the Western Conference Finals three years running, and reached the Cup Final in 2020.
He snagged General Manager of the Year honors three times, too.
Robertson has put up impressive numbers in 69 games this season.
The California native tallied 38 goals and 44 assists for 82 points, averaging 1.19 per game.
Shifting to Dallas, Stars general manager Jim Neal reaffirmed his plan to lock up left-winger Jason Robertson with a new deal this summer.
He could play Seguin on seasonal long-term injured reserve, freeing up $9 million in cap space to land a top player via trade.
That boost could carry the Stars through the postseason stretch.
Younger guys like Justin Harikawine and Borke are stepping up amid cap realities.
With trades tougher this year due to cap changes and the Olympic break, Neal stays patient and prepared, like last year's deadline stunner.

Here's your Dallas Stars news in two minutes.
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill just made a move to shake up the defense.
The team acquired 23-year-old defenseman Jeremy Poirier from the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenseman Gavin White.
Poirier hedged straight to the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
This season with the Calgary Wranglers, Poirier has six points, one goal, and five assists in 35 games, along with 24 penalty minutes.
