My first reaction was my mother.

I think I tried to call my mother, couldn't get her.

I spoke with Luanne, who had been talking to Mary Trace.

So within minutes,

Two minutes, three minutes, we all knew and confirmed it.

And then the important thing was I wanted to locate my mother, who Mary Trace told me was with a particular doctor.

So I drove like a lunatic to Beaumont Hospital.

To be told she was at a surgery in Balls Bridge.

So I had to drive over there and pick up Mam and tell her, so...

So when I told her the news, she fully understood and grasped what I was saying and her reaction, which is really very private.

But it was what one would expect.

It's not something you would wish any sibling to have to tell a parent that another sibling has died regardless of the way that they have died.

Oh, very clearly.

It's a trauma you have to live with.
