Only Donald Trump would demand I be fired for making a joke about his old age and then a day later go out and make a joke about his own old age.

Jimmy Kimmel is under fire after refusing to apologize for his disgusting joke that First Lady Melania Trump looked like an expectant widow.

Instead of showing remorse, Kimmel doubled down during his monologue last night, insisting it was just a, quote, very light roast and not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination.

He was responding to the First Lady's blistering statement saying Kimmel's hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country and that his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.

She also blasted ABC for shielding him, writing, "'Enough is enough.

It is time for ABC to take a stand.'"

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt joined the condemnation, asking who in their right mind says a wife would be glowing over the potential murder of her beloved husband.

For many on the right, the episode is another example of corporate media protecting anti-Trump figures while excusing rhetoric they would never tolerate if it was aimed at Democrats.

This was Thursday and there was no big reaction to it until this morning when I greeted the day facing yet another Twitter vomit storm.

And a call to fire me from our first lady, Melania Trump, saying I should be fired because of a joke I made, again, five nights ago.

obviously was a joke about their age difference and the look of joy we see on her face every time they're together it was a very light roast joke about the fact that he's almost 80 and she's younger than i am it was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination and they know that i've been very vocal for many years speaking out against gun violence in particular but i understand that the first lady had a

in that house.

And also, I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject.
