And I was expecting, unfortunately, to hear in the letter maybe a very lengthy reason in his handwriting.
I expected to see some form of foul play in the letter.
And it was her handwriting.
And all it said.
and nothing more, nothing less, was make sure that you take care of the dogs.
You know, immediately when I heard that on the phone from one of the detectives at the time, I thought, it's not a suicide.
What do you mean?
And I immediately thought I was in a movie.
I thought, this isn't happening.
You're not doing this to us.
What are you saying?
It's a suicide.
And we immediately pushed back.
I still haven't been able to read through all of it, but it was the first piece in so many years for my mom and I that we finally got something moving in the right direction.
Finally, it wasn't just the emotional family.
Finally, it wasn't just the sporadic mother or son who were being irrational.
Finally, we had hard evidence.
And we thought, finally, we win.
