Both the Patriots and Seahawks are playing in the Super Bowl one year after missing out on the playoffs, but New England's turnaround is particularly impressive.
The Patriots won the AFC East in Mike Vrabel's first season as head coach one year after going 4-13, and quarterback Drake May said the players bought into Vrabel's message early on.
That was courtesy of the Patriots, as New England had missed out on the playoffs in three consecutive seasons, while Seattle failed to make the postseason in Mike McDonald's first year as head coach.

A second golfer is leaving live, Patrick Reed.
The PGA Tour released a statement saying Reed would be eligible to return to competition on August 25th, 2026.
Reed, who won the Masters in 2018, will continue to compete on the European Tour in the meantime.
His announcement came one day before five-time major champion Brooks Koepka returns to the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines.
Patrick Reid announced Wednesday that he will no longer compete on the Live Golf Tour with an eye toward competing in PGA Tour events later this year.
The PGA Tour released a statement saying Reid would be eligible to return to competition on August 25, 2026.
Reid, who won the Masters in 2018, will continue to compete on the European Tour in the meantime.
