Australia's parliament has passed a new, quote, anti-hate law and sweeping gun reforms, bills that came just a month after two suspected Islamic terrorists shot 15 people dead at a Jewish festival at Bondi Beach.
Joining us now to discuss is Dan Ryan, the executive director of the National Conservative Institute of Australia.

So these laws were prompted by something that there's a lot of sympathy, obviously, for a desire to do more to prevent another tragedy like the Bondi Beach Massacre.
But you argue this is the wrong direction.
We wanted to specifically ask you about that anti-hate legislation that was just passed.
What exactly does this law entail?
Sounds like an extremely slippery slope there.
How would this work exactly?
How would they actually outlaw a political group?
And when you say banned, that those organizations are forbidden from operating as organizations going forward?
Or what exactly does that ban mean?
You obviously disagree with this approach.
