I can count on one hand the number of times I cried harder than when I put down, when my dog got so sick and that was the end for her.

It was devastating, like literally devastating to me.

That dog was my original ride or die.

And what I got on the back end of that hurt and that grief was,

That's what commitment feels like.

And that's what love feels like.

And that's what deep relationship feels like.

And sometimes we try to put these dollar amounts when it comes to your family.

Yeah, dude, no question about it.

When it comes to our pets, it's like you enter into a short-term relationship and that thing looks to you for love and care and support and all that kind of stuff.

And it's amazing and awesome.

But there's going to be grief on the back end of that.

And sometimes there's people out there who want to sell us things and try to extend that or push that off or pretend it's not coming.

It's coming.

It's part of entering into a relationship with a pet, however hard that is to hear.

And so preparing yourself for that emotionally, that day will come.

Hopefully it's a long time from now.

And then getting a number in your head.

This is what I'm willing to invest in this pet of mine.
