Okay, here's the most honest answer I can give you, Blake.

This is my third season calling G8 games now.

And if we go back to season number one a few years ago, when I say I was worried, I wasn't sitting at home chewing on my nails, but I was a little bit concerned about like, okay, this is the first time I'm doing this.

I grew up on baseball and basketball.

I grew up a huge baseball fan overall and played the game, et cetera.

So I feel like I know the game, but it's much different when you have covered one sport, basketball, for 20 plus years and you're suddenly thrust into another one.

And my concern was, am I going to be able to have enough stories to tell or enough questions to ask?

Am I going to be well-read enough?

Am I going to be up on things beyond just being kind of a fan of the game overall?

And I'll tell you, as much prep as I do, as I know you do, as anybody in our business does, as probably a lot of fans do, prepping for games even as fans and staying up on the latest stories and stats and trends and everything else, the change in baseball that I've seen even as a fan, let alone as a broadcaster, with the pitch clock,

These games move not quite as fast as basketball, but there is not nearly as much time to kind of tell those old-timey baseball stories.

In my mind, what I remember as a kid, especially about the radio broadcast in baseball, is because of the slower pace of the game and because of how slow some pitchers move and the timing of broadcasts and games being three-plus hours long,

There was plenty of time to get into a conversation in between pitches, let alone even in at-bats or in between a pitching change or whatever it might be.

I find with the pitch clock now and the way that Major League Baseball has sped things up, which I actually am a fan of,

there isn't as much time to really dig into things and and fully showing my hand here i i hope that baseball fans have been happy with the work i do and filling in for the great ben shulman but when i do hear from fans sometimes it's like man you missed this pitch or you missed that play and i'm thinking by the time i tell you what the pitch was and the speed it was the location it wasn't what happened and my analyst says something for five seconds

The next pitch is about four seconds away from coming in.
