But, again, more injuries happening for Detroit right now.
So it's not the Tigers.
They're probably, on the contrary, the speculation about Skubal and Mize and others that could be traded is actually louder than ever in Detroit.
But I do believe it is the Mariners because you look at the circumstances of their division β
I think in some ways the Mariners and Jays are living in parallel.
They, of course, they met in the ALCS a year ago, but the biggest difference is that the Jays are in the same division as the Rays and the Yankees and the Mariners are not.
The Mariners are in an eminently winnable American League West.
The Astros are not nearly the team they used to be, no hitter aside.
The A's, while impressive with the lineup, are still a little bit shaky on the pitching side of things.
And so whatever intramural issues the Mariners are having about who's starting, who's relieving,
I tend to think at some point this situation, if everybody's still healthy, will be resolved with a trade.
You, of course, know a team very well, and I'm not going to speculate on the Mariners and Jays getting together on a trade, but just look at the Jays, for example.
How much they would, if they had a Luis Castillo, he'd be starting this weekend.
More than likely if he was on the team.
So there are a lot of teams that need exactly what Castillo could give them if they could find a way to make the money work for a new team and take on that contract.
So I do think it's the Mariners offensively slow starts.
But remember, Raleigh is missed.
And again, the other similarity between the Mariners and the Jays is
Both have major catchers who have missed significant time.
That's certainly one more thing to keep in mind.
