No one is in the wings to come save us.

There are no adults in the room and we have to

because, tragically, no one is in the wings.

Absolutely.

And unfortunately, he's one of the representatives who has not and will not sign on to direct cash transfers to Americans.

Why is that?

That's a great question.

He has no response.

This is why I run.

I did not set out to run for Congress.

I reached out to our leading politicians, academics, journalists, civil rights leaders, particularly in the context of this district.

Again, my home, which is the gayest district in the country, the most Jewish district in the country.

And I said, it's not even about the system.

Don't even think about the country.

It's about enlightened self-interest.

If you look at what's happening in Borough Park, which is the parts of South Brooklyn that are gerrymandered to be in the district, we're seeing 30 to 40 percent poverty rates and a level of anti-Semitic hate crimes to the point where hate crimes have doubled last year alone, two thirds of which were anti-Semitic.

People getting beat, hit in the head with stones, synagogues being graffitied.

This is just normal life.

And so it's waking people up to the fact in the context of this district.
