That's when most people who are familiar with this will know the 10 plagues that God sent on the Egyptians.
And those plagues were because the pharaoh of Egypt wouldn't allow the Jews to leave.
So says the biblical story.
And so God sent plague after plague after plague until the Egyptians were terrified and said, you can leave.
And they escaped quickly with really what they had with them.
They didn't have time to bake bread.
They baked flatbread.
It didn't rise.
And that is where we get our matzahs from.
The blood libel, which is the origin of this phrase, is that we use blood to bake those matzahs and that that blood came from sacrificing Christian children.
It is nonsense.
It is unfounded.
It is something that was created to...
unite people against Jews.
It is echoed in conspiracies about organ harvesting and child sacrifice.
None of it is true.
None of it is true.
It's so important to say that there is no credible evidence of such a thing.
It is actually against Jewish thought and against Jewish intention.
