And I'm not talking two or three fights, I'm talking 40, 50, 60 fights break out.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
I think the key point is they don't really have to do anything now.
They need to do something before the end of the season, but for now, gather evidence.
If Michael Carrick is still winning games and still being so impressive by the end of the season, then maybe you do start to consider giving him the job.
I think there's a huge danger
and this is a particular danger with United because they've had so many managers and so many failures, that you draw too big a conclusion from past precedents.
So just because Solskjaer failed doesn't mean Carrick is the wrong man.
It doesn't mean he's the right man, but you have to make that judgment based on how he does between now and the end of the season.
Now, that is a really difficult decision to make for two reasons.
So number one is, by the end of the season, he will have managed for 17 games.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 17th game in charge of United was a 3-1 win in Paris.
They hit the high point of his entire career as United manager.
And that was the moment at which a decision was clearly taken to give him the job full-time.
He then lost to Arsenal the following week.
He lost to Wolves in the Cup a week after that.
They then gave him the job.
And I think they ended up with, was it two wins in the final 12 games that season?
And it was pretty apparent by that summer that they'd made a mistake.
So 17 games isn't really very long to judge a manager over.
