Welshie and Dean Solomon are mates.

They are tight as.

And I mean, I'm not going to say I thought this would happen, but the moment Dean Solomon went from the board to the coaching group, that was when I'm like, what's going on here?

Not to say that they wanted this to happen or they wanted Brad Scott to fail, but...

There's no doubt it is a... And Kevin Sheedy, I thought his interview with Gary and Tim during the week was telling, you know, they, strong Essendon people, have such a strong desire for the next coach to be an Essendon person that it's not funny.

So I immediately, like the last few days...

I was like, it will 100% be James Hurd.

And I still think that.

I think James Hurd will be the coach and Dean Solomon will be the highly paid sort of day-to-day tactical guy.

I think that's how it will play itself out.

And I'd be surprised if Mark McVay's not involved there somewhere as well.

He's highly regarded in the coaching fraternity as well.

I do think, Pickers, it'll be Essendon, Essendon, Essendon in that coaching group.

But that's what the opposition thinks.

That's what Adam Simpson, John Longmire, Ken Hinckley was even stronger.

They think this is, well, they're not saying.

He said something to the effect of, again, paraphrasing, they seem like they've got a position they want to get to or they want to go a certain way and you don't want to necessarily... Now, why people are scared of going for jobs and getting knocked back, I don't know, particularly when you're a young coach, but...

But there seems to have always been a reluctance to go for a job that you know you probably won't get.
