Jerry, you guys made no secret this was your top priority going into the offseason.
It seemed pretty obvious you guys needed to get this one done.
How was that trying to go and make sure you got where you needed to get to in this and just making sure you got him back here?
Yeah, I think the one thing that we've done for all the years that we've been here is we kind of tell you what we're going to do.
And then we just go out and try to do that thing.
And we're not always successful in doing it.
This time we had a partner who wanted to be here with us, and that made it a heck of a lot easier.
But it really was a no-brainer.
We've built a great foundation that's out there on the field day after day.
We talked about some of the guys that are here long-term, like Cal or Julio,
our starting rotation, and it goes even beyond that.
And Josh knows this.
We have what I think is a very complete, close to 26-man roster.
We will continue to focus on getting better this offseason.
We have a pretty robust farm system.
We're excited about the present and the future of the organization.
But the piece that we didn't have
was we didn't have the all-star bat in the middle of the lineup who could also play first base.
We also didn't have the guy, you know, I think toward the tail end of the season, the thing that we all saw with Josh is that when our season was vibrating at a different level, he got above the vibration, you know, and that was a pretty big deal.
Not a lot of players can do that.
