She fled with her mum, ended up in Birmingham, which is roughly in the middle of the UK, where I'd been born and brought up and sought to become a nurse because she wanted to honour her father's memory by going into the medical field. But she failed her exams the first time round because she didn't speak English, essentially. That'll do it. It's an impediment.

And through that, she met a young student called Dan, Israeli by background as it happens. And Dan and she would meet every day over the course of a summer.
