And then I joined a theatre society and wrote this really wacky song called Spanky's Lunch and played it drunkenly at one of their parties.
And the president of the theatre society just went, I reckon we're going to call you Spanky's.
And so I lost this nickname and picked up an even worse one almost immediately, which is very me.
I mean, I'm just, I don't know, I walk around with a bit of a target on me.
I just wanted to reinvent myself like a little supernova of energy.
I wanted to be free of everything that was in Tasmania, just all this baggage.
In Canberra, it was just this fresh blank slate of making brand new friends.
Some people probably go over halfway around the world and backpack for six months to have these sorts of adventures.
But when you're from Burnie, Canberra's like New York with roundabouts.
That was my dream job.
I don't think I've surpassed it.
Like I came out, I nailed my dream.
I had such a front-loaded career.
I basically came out of the gates with the dream opportunity, whereas most people toil away for 10 to 15 years doing a bit of a slow burn.
I was just like, hey, kid, have everything.
Have the keys to the kingdom.
And so I was just thrust into this platform of,
You know, forget Lena Dunham.
I was the voice of a generation.
Well, it's amazing, isn't it?
