The state filed an emergency appeal Wednesday, a day after a lower court's ruling that the map intentionally discriminates against black people.
The appeal is the latest developments following last month's Supreme Court's ruling that weakened the landmark Voting Rights Act amid a broader push by President Trump to preserve the Republican House majority.
