retail sales may have moderated in December, according to Bloomberg Intelligence.

And that report is out on Tuesday, along with small business optimism and the employment cost index.

They get the January jobs report Wednesday, and it may show the jobless rate held at 4.4 percent, with non-farm payrolls rising about 70,000 for the month.

Thursday, it's a weekly report on initial jobless claims and existing home sales.

And Friday, it's a consumer price index, which will be a key test of whether inflation is continuing to cool at a gradual pace.
