He can't get a job because every time somebody Googles him, they see headlines that say, Jay Asher expelled from SCBWI for sexual harassment.

And you probably wouldn't want to hire that guy either.

And the really gross miscarriage of justice here is that the organization that said it had investigated him and found him guilty for harassment...

lied.

He was not investigated.

He was not found guilty.

He was not expelled.

On the day that they made this announcement, he was literally still a member in good standing of SCBWI.

But they were panicked and they wanted to cover their asses.

And so they threw him on the pyre.

And I think probably didn't think much of it at the time.

But the unfortunate thing about

this type of campaign, you know, to destroy somebody's life and livelihood over rumors, is that for the person who takes all of the fallout from it, this stuff has a long tail.

It doesn't necessarily ever go away.

And the more vague it is, the worse it is because people use their imaginations to fill in the blanks in ways that are not supported by whatever actually happened.

That's correct.

No woman ever came forward to say that he had done anything to her.

There was never a lawsuit.

There was never a criminal case.

There were rumors posted in the comments of a blog.
